Ultra Thin Nickel Mesh

Ultra thin nickel mesh is distinguished by its super thin characteristic. This type of mesh is produced from ultra thin nickel wires with purity of 99.6%(N6) or 99.9%(N4). Thanks to the advanced weaving technique, the thin nickel mesh performs well in structure and firmness in spite of its seemingly silky appearance.

Ultra thin nickel mesh can be produced into as many as 400 meshes per inch with an aperture of 30 microns. But the most commonly used type is 350 meshes per inch and nickel mesh manufacturers often make it as a stock product in the inventory.

Applications of Ultra Thin Nickel Mesh

Ultra thin nickel meshes possess all features of normal nickel wire mesh, such as corrosion resistance, acid and alkali resistance, high electrical conductivity, etc. Due to these unparalleled characteristics, nickel mesh films are widely applied in various fields.

  • In water electrolysis hydrogen industry, used as filter to get pure hydrogen.
  • In the EMI & RFI shielding industries, for shielded room and Faraday cage.
  • In battery industries, for electrode substrates or current collectors parts of fuel cells.
  • In water treatment industries, for sea-water exchange and evaporator.
  • In nuclear industries, used in the manufacture of uranium enrichment isotope separation equipment.
  • In chemical processing industries, participate in the operations involved in caustic acids and alkalis.

Ultra Thin Nickel Mesh Used for Hydrogen Production

With stable chemical characteristics and high corrosion resistance, the thin nickel mesh is selected as the filter mesh material in the electrolyzer for hydrogen production.

The thin nickel mesh acts as a catalyst for the production of hydrogen. It will catalyze the electrolysis of water to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. Nickel meshes for hydrogen production usually have high specific surface area and small pore size, which enables them to provide sufficient surface area to adsorb and catalyze the water splitting reaction.

The hydrogen production nickel mesh is usually prepared by electrochemical method. A dense nickel hydride layer is electrodeposited on the surface of the nickel alloy. Heat the layer to decompose the nickel hydride and form nickel particles. These nickel particles will form a network structure after heating, thereby forming a hydrogen production nickel network.
